HEALING BODY IMAGE WITH BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY

One thing I’ve learned when healing my relationship with my body, is that when you’re unhappy with yourself - there’s very little room in your mind for anything other than that.

When you dislike your body, SO many of your thoughts are about how you look, shame about your body, guilt about your body, you live your life based on how deserving you feel about your body… it becomes nothing but an unhealthy, unconscious cycle of negative thoughts.

I used to wake up thinking about what not to eat,

I’d worry about my body in how I’d dress myself that day,

I’d feel guilt for any and everything that I thought would make things worse,

When I’d go out, I’d think about how other people were looking at me and saying mean things in their heads,

There was a constant loop of mean and shameful thoughts racing through me all the time. It just doesn’t leave room for much else.. happy thoughts, being present, appreciating when I did feel good, dreaming, seeing the beauty around me.. whatever. There wasn’t room for it.


And you may not even realize you’re doing it! It can be so unconscious and subtle and normalized in your mind. Which is why becoming aware of what you’re thinking is so important!


There’s just so much freedom in seeing your body as neutral and good enough. It impacts EVERY part of your life.


Boudoir is healing. It’s getting out of the loop and being willing to look at yourself differently, just for once. Seeing yourself like that love of your life sees you, or how you would look at your best friend.


It’s stopping the cycle in it’s tracks and deciding that you’re ready to live your life despite it all! It’s a decision that YOU have to make. Only you have the power to break the cycle, even if you need help doing it!


You realize that nobody’s really looking at you.

You realize that you’re putting thoughts into other people’s heads as a way to judge yourself.

You wear what makes you feel great

You eat what makes you feel vibrant

You’re present to life’s most important moments…


It’s a process, it’s not an overnight thing, but setting the intention to feel better about yourself without having to have any external reasons to validate it - is the MOST freeing thing. It will happen. One day, you’ll just realize that you’re not having to think about it as much anymore and you realize that you start dreaming and feeling better. You focus on your soul, not your physical body. Or how it feels instead of how it looks.
